January 2013.....

January was quite the month for us...we left our church in Texas, packed up our teeny tiny apartment, loaded all our belongings into storage units and moved in with Jakes parents...i'm a little overwhelmed with all that I can say about our time we had in Texas and the reasons why we left...so i'm just going to leave it that we felt very called to move on and we are now truly learning to live, trusting fully on God and man are we! We can honestly say we are rejoicing in this time of darkness. Our last days in Frisco were spent with friends we had met, going to all our favorite places around town, packing, going to our last library programs, and finishing up Pipers swim lessons....our 18 months in Texas will always hold a HUGE place in our heart and I am so very grateful that God led us there!

we gather together...

this is it!....this is the week leading up to the entire reason we left our life of extreme comfort....we felt so strongly called to this ministry in Frisco....and here we are!....this coming Sunday is Frisco Fields Church very first service!!! I feel so blessed to be here....i feel so blessed to be apart of this Community of people....and i fell so blessed to be apart of the history of this Church! This journey has stretched me more then i can imagine....as a wife, supporter, mommy, christian, financial book-keeper, and friend. I have had to learn to give up control more then i have ever had to in my LIFE....but as a Christian i have been given this gift of not having to be in control....of having a heavenly father to say..."daddy, help, i cant handle this alone". We have done every earthly thing we can do....the stage is designed, the nursery is set up, activities are planned for the kids, we have set up & tear down, down to a science, sermon series is planned, coffee maker is cleaned, band is put together.....now its up to Him.... and we are sooooooo ready to see Gods Glory SHINE through this ministry!!
...come....join us....we are nice;) come be apart of our history!!!

Yeah...this is a really big deal!!!....

WE ARE MOVING TO TEXAS!!! wow announcement overload....I'll start from the beginning....
Last October...one night after Wednesday night church, Jake pulls up to the house and just sits in the driveway...i could tell he was on the phone and was so anxious to hear what was going on... when he came inside he told me that this Pastor named Jared from a church in Arizona, whom Jake had met about a year earlier, was moving his family to Frisco,TX to plant a new church and Jared wanted Jake to consider joining his team and be the worship/arts Pastor!! We were excited about the idea yet pretty unsure...we knew nothing about planting a church and Jake NEVER even thought about the idea! (God has a pretty funny since of humor!)...over the next month we prayed a lot...asked a lot of questions...and seeked guidance from Jake's dad in the matter. By thanksgiving...we just didn't feel "quite on board"...we know now that it was just code for "we are really comfortable here...and moving somewhere with a new baby and a toddler, where we don't know anyone, to start a church plant is just too scary, so we should probably just stay put". After we told Jared that we were not quite sure about joining his team...we moved on with our lives....Jake got busy at church and me keeping up with a toddler and growing another person...Then January comes and Jake gets another call from Jared!! Jared basically just wanted Jake to know that he was still interested in him and wanted us to continue thinking about it. WHAT?!? seriously God...we thought we put this to rest?! We felt as though there had to be some reason God was "pushing" us on this church planting idea...So Jake and I dove into some deep prayer again and we both felt completely different this time around...this time for some reason we were starting to feel called! So as soon as Jared's family finally made it to Texas, we planned a weekend in early March to go check out the area and meet with Jared and his family. WOW what an amazing weekend! We LOVED the area and most of all we fell in love with the Doe family!! We really felt a connection and all of our questions were getting answered and our doubts were fading! When we got back to OKC Jake took a day to fast and pray over this new ministry opportunity...and God made it pretty clear (to both of us) that he was calling us to start this church!
Although a location still has not been decided yet our new church home already has a name and a website...Frisco Fields Community Church....click the link to check out our site! We have sold our house and will be moving July 15th! The launch date for Frisco Fields is October 9th!

please read about our core values and the biblical truth behind our amazing logo :)

The Core Values
Biblical. Relational. Missional.

Biblical.
Scripture reveals God’s heart and His story. It is a heart that must be shared and a story that must be told. It is God’s heart for us, and it is the story we find ourselves in. We commit our lives to the authority of Scripture through study, teaching, educational classes and obedience.

Relational.
People were created to live in healthy community. The early church had a huge emphasis on living life with one another. In fact, there are over 30 “one another” passages in the New Testament. We are to love one another, share with one another, confess to one another, serve one another, pray for one another, celebrate with one another, mourn with one another, and teach one another. We are committed to community, discipleship, and communal prayer, and of course… parties!

Missional.
People are called to serve one another in love. Serving brings life to others and self-transformation. The church is at its best when it serves, sacrifices, and loves others. Jesus had an uncanny ability to meet people exactly where they were and yet draw them into a life renewed. Sharing faith, love, and hope with others should be a natural part of life. We are committed to service, compassion, outreach, and alleviating spiritual, physical, social, and emotional poverty.

The Logo
The three bars in the logo represent three fields as well as the three core values of Frisco Fields Church: Biblical, Relational and Missional. The third bar and third core value (missional) has a corner cut off from it. This represents Leviticus 23:22 (NIV) says, "When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien."

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law went on a medical misson trip a couple of years ago to Peru...it completely changed their lives...like i have heard misson trips do (i need to go on one someday!!)...My sister-in-law became really close friends with a girl that was apart of the program they worked with named Rachele, so close in fact that she has come to America to stay with Heather twice since the misson trip...and of course Rachele and i have become friends as well...last time she was here i was pregnant :) well she was here again for 2 weeks at the first of February...and this time she brought her boyfriend Arturo! Rachele and Arturo teach at the same school in Peru...and Arturo is a Rugby coach!! We had so much fun during those two weeks...going to church together...having a super bowl party with them...and eating lots of awesome food. They spent alot of time shopping for stuff they cant get in Peru...they LOVE Ross dress for less ;) and they love stuff like lucky charms and little debbies...ahaha i love it!! Arturo and Rachele are getting married soon and we hope to maybe go to Peru to their wedding!!!

one of my top favorite days!...

yesterday morning, jake, piper and i went to Eugene Fields Elementary....it is an inner city school here in Oklahoma city...99% of the students are on the free lunch program and 88% of the students are Hispanic. Crossings is involved in a ministry where you can pick up a backpack at the church for a specific child and fill the backpack with Christmas gifts! Then a group of volunteers goes and reads the real Christmas story to the children, tell them about Jesus Christ then hand them their backpack full of gifts...I have never been involved in something like this, and it was one of my favorite days ever! These children were so grateful!! they would run around the room so excited to show their friends what they had got (didn't matter if it was a Hannah Montana movie or a box of crayons...they were equally excited!). Just amazing! There were many Crossings parents that took their kids out of school to go help deliver backpacks....i feel that it was an amazing lesson in humanity and will always take our children!
Jake reading the story of Christmas

sweet girls receiving her backpack full of gifts!

While his entire class was tearing into their gifts this little boy was sitting quietly at his desk with his backpack untouched...i went to ask him why he was not opening his gifts and he told me he wanted to wait, so that he would have gifts to open on Christmas. I was told that this happens every year, and even learned later that the little girl behind him in the photo was doing the same thing...but that was just so hard for me to hear...so as i fought back the tears i ask him if i could take and photo of him with his backpack...he held it so proud.... :)

happiness...

pipers acting debut!!....

our church has this super sweet little program for pre-school age kids telling the story of Jesus birth, with all young actors (except mary and joseph;), real animals and everyone wears their jammies its just an amazing evening! Jake, Piper and I were asked to play "Mary, Joseph and Jesus"! any time we can be a part of tell the story of our saviours birth is a blessing!

*yes...Jesus is holding a green paci ;)
after the program, children lined up to see "baby Jesus" and take photos...I felt like santa...and dont worry we scrubbed her down the minute we got home! (MOMS:please teach your toddlers NOT to touch babys hands and faces!!). also...i am always correcting people that Piper is in fact a girl not a boy (i think its her bald head;). so it was very strange to have all these children and parents tell me how "cute he is" and not correct them...i figure i saved parents a lot of explaining by leaving it alone :)

Happy Fallish!!!!

being in children's ministry we try to avoid the word "Halloween"....so we started calling it "fallish" :)...I dressed up like a "new mommy" hahaha (real creative huh?!!), jake was a mechanic, and piper was a cute little pumpkin :) At our churches fall festival I was taking note of the super cute and creative costumes for next year! My favorite so far was an idea from aunt heather....Piper and I dressing up like Pea's and then drawing black eyes on both of us....get it...."the black-eyed peas"!!!

4 years ago this month....

Jake and I were anticipating our wedding in December, when we started an intense pre-marital class. At the time i was still in school working on my Marriage and Family Life Education degree....so of course i knew it was more important to spend time preparing for the marriage then the wedding. This 9 week course covered everything! It was amazing! And i feel that it was key to keeping our priorities straight right from the beginning!

Well...Dr. Kimberling, who facilitates and wrote the curriculum for the course, has hired me to help out with this semesters course!!! YEAH for doing something somewhat related to my formal education!!! If you know anyone who is getting married or who already is married, young or old this is a great course!!! you need to check out a cord of 3 strands ministries!
